About Us
Roots, Inc dba (doing business as) ecoroot, has been in business
since 1994, and is incorporated in the state on North Carolina. My
husband and partner, Bill Parks, is the former President of Hamilton
Beach small appliances and lends his expertise in manufacturing,
finance and marketing.
We started as wholesale plant nursery selling to grocery stores. On
our deliveries, we noticed the increasing use (and need!) for reusable
grocery bags. Not wanting to add to the problem of plastic bags, yet
unhappy with what we found at our customer's stores, we developed
our own reusable bag.
We felt that there were three main problems to bags on the market:
Existing bags were too bulky:
The strong ones were too bulky, so I'd forget them in my trunk. Like
many, I wouldn't remember until I was checking out, and not wanting to
hold up the line, I would end up getting plastic bags.
The unique logo pocket on our bag (patent-pending) is designed to fit
in a purse or pocket. No more leaving the bags behind!
Existing bags were too difficult to clean:
I am a germ freak. Most bags on the market specify hand or spot
wash only. I was very uncomfortable putting produce in a bag that
may have held pork or chicken on its last use. So we designed our
bag to be easy to wash. They are both washing machine and
dishwasher safe (and dryer safe on low heat!). We used a strong, but
large mesh holed polyester fabric to allow the soap suds to penetrate
the bag.
Existing bags were too expensive:
The cotton or hemp mesh bags on the market were very expensive,
particularly if you need to keep several on hand. Our bags are
designed to be the best value for the dollar that solves the problems
of portability and cleaning.
We have since expanded our line to include other reusable products,
including an extensive reusable bag line and reusable aluminum and
stainless steel water bottles.
We here at ecoroot take great pride in providing a workable solution
to the plastic bag and bottle problem. We feel that we have developed

To that end, we will provide quality, yet economical, reusable products that make it easy to go 'Green'.
